A native Chicagoan, Fr. Elias Kyprianos Bouboutsis comes to us from the missionary Ermita de Regla (Antiochian) in Miami's Little Havana district, where he has been attached as 'guardian confrade' and adjunct clergy since 2002. Recently received by the Atlanta Metropolis, he was ordained in 1995 by Metropolitan Iakovos of Chicago at the city's Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, which he has served in addition to that Metropolis' communities of St. Iakovos and St. Demetrios (Chicago).

He is a 'priest with a lay profession,' whose work has included extensive clinical chaplaincy, ecumenical and interfaith activity, and archdiocese staffing as community relations coordinator for the Metropolis of Chicago. Fr. Elias also holds a Ph.D. (2003) from the historic Chicago Theological Seminary, where his work focused in areas of religion and culture.

Currently core divinity professor at the Florida Center for Theological Studies in Miami, he works with ministry students across faith communities in various areas including Biblical Greek and the social sciences. His forthcoming book, Singing in a Strange Land: the Ancient Future of Orthodox Pluralism explores multiculturalism through a prism of faith and mission in the Americas.
